6 Keys to Spiritual Maturity
How can you know if you are spiritually mature? Like me, you may not have had an understanding of what “the laying on of hands” meant or that a person can intentionally increase in faith. In this short blog, I will give understanding to key things listed in Hebrews 6:1-2 that Paul identifies as the basic teachings required to be considered spiritually mature. Unlock the truth now.
1. Repentance from Dead Works
Dead works are simply things we do that Holy Spirit is not guiding us to do. Christians can do “good” things that seem to be the right thing to do, but if Jesus didn’t guide us to do it, we are wasting our time. Sometimes religious activity can make our conscience feel better, but it does nothing for us eternally. God instructs us to turn away from doing dead works and do things by faith.
- Hebrews 11:6
- John 5:40
2. Faith In God
Faith in God is more than just hoping. Faith is a spiritual substance by which things were created. Love works through faith. We are all given a measure of faith when we are born again. Faith can increase. Without faith we cannot please God. Our faith can be tested. It takes faith to do anything in the spiritual realm. Faith is believing what God says and acting according to Holy Spirit’s direction.
- Romans 12:3
- James 1:2-3
3. Baptisms
There are at least 3 baptisms identified in Scripture. The first is when you are born again and Holy Spirit baptizes you into the Body of Christ. Another baptism (these next two do not have a particular order) is when you are immersed in water as a witness to people publicly of your having been born again. Another baptism is to be baptized in Holy Spirit by Jesus Himself for empowerment.
- I Corinthians 12:13
4. Laying On of Hands
Laying on of Hands is a basic principle of the Christian Life. When we lay our hands on someone it can bring healing, transfer authority, impart spiritual gifts and simply bless them.
- I Timothy 4:14
- Mark 16:17-18
- Acts 13:3
5. Resurrection of the Dead
Resurrection of the dead refers to the miracles which are seen throughout Scripture in which someone was raised to life on Earth after dying. It also refers to what will happen to all souls, whether believers or not, at the end of the age. People are also presently being raised from the dead as well.
- I Corinthians 15:51-5
- John 11:24-25

6. Eternal Judgement
Believers will be resurrected and give an account of the deeds they did while on Earth. Rewards for believers will be awarded at this time. Unbelievers will be raised, judged, and sentenced to eternal damnation.
- Daniel 12:2
- Romans 2:5-10

In this hour, maturity and the love of the truth are in dire need. I’m so glad you took the time to read this. Do a small thing and share this post with those whom you know have spiritual hunger.
