Are Hipsters Truthful?
In this hour in human history many people question if there is a real “absolute truth.” Those who don’t believe there is a truth that is above all other believe in “Moral Relativism.” That means what’s true for you might not be true for me. Truth is relative or depends on the situation.
Even though that line of thought has been shoved down this generation’s throat since the 1920s there is a strong remnant that hasn’t taken the bait. Baby Boomers, Gen Xers, Hipsters, Millennials and whatever this next generation is called are looking to ancient manuscripts to find real answers.
This generation collectively wants to know what the one true God says about truth and morality. His Word is very clear. For example, one of the most offensive truths is that Jesus is the only way to Heaven. It offends those who choose to deny the voice of Holy Spirit and what can plainly be seen through nature. For you to say that Jesus is the only way to redemption seems rude and arrogant to those who reject the sovereignty of God. However, if someone says you are being difficult or exclusive to hold that view, you can tell them that you didn’t say it, Jesus did. And He’s the only man in history who even claims to have died for them and rose again so they could be redeemed.
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me…
II Thessalonians 2:10
…and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
Holy Spirit is also called The Spirit of Truth and He is a trustworthy guide. You can count on that inner voice of truth along with God’s Word and godly counsel when you need to know what’s true.
John 16:13-15
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will lead you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own accord, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will testify of Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
I am encouraged by the passion I see in those around me who search for real truth. Yes, many hipsters are moral and with morals that line up with The Truth rather than the ever-changing tide of public opinion. Even when people don’t believe what I know to be true, I know that if they keep seeking truth they will find HIM because He has been pursuing them before they even knew His name.
Pray Aloud
Holy Spirit, I am thankful that You will lead me into all truth. I believe there is truth that God has established. It is my will and desire to live in truth and not error. I thank You, Father, in Jesus’ name that You hear me and it is Your desire that I never walk in deception.
