Christians Higher Than Angels?

Have you ever seen an angel? How about a demon? I have seen both and through this excerpt from my first book, There’s No Junior Holy Spirit, I will continue to build the foundation regarding Christians’ authority in the spiritual realm including angels and demons. We’re revising the first version of the book with new and improved graphics and insight, coming soon!

Gospel of the Kingdom, holy spirit, spirit filled

Where do I fit into the Kingdom with angels?

In Psalm 8, the Bible says we were created just lower than God, but above other things. Many times the word “Elohim” is mistranslated to “angel” rather than “creator God!” That passage shows how God has put us in important positions and given us authority and responsibility just like He did Adam and Eve. See the Kingdom What Kingdom blog for more understanding of your place in The Kingdom.

Psalm 8
1 O Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth,
Who have set Your glory above the heavens!

2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have ordained strength,
Because of Your enemies,
That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
4 What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels,[b] (Elohim-Creator God)
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.

6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
7 All sheep and oxen—
Even the beasts of the field,
8 The birds of the air,
And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas.

9 O Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth!

Those verses in Psalm 8 also mention angels, so I want you to learn 3 facts about angels here:

1.We never worship angels. A few folks in the Bible tried to worship them, and the angels responded by being horrified that people would do such a thing! God’s angels direct all attention to our Father, and they refuse to accept worship, which only belongs to Him. If an angel ever accepts worship, that’s a big hint it belongs to the other team.

2. Father has chosen angels to help us bring His kingdom to Earth. As the verses below prove, angels listen for us to speak God’s word so they can perform it, or carry out what it says. Though we do not worship them, we are very grateful that God uses them to help us.

3. When you die, you will not turn into an angel. That is an idea many people believe, but it is definitely not in the Bible.

Holiness

“Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?” Hebrews 1:14

“Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life?” 1 Corinthians 6:3

“Bless the LORD, oh you His angels, you mighty ones who do His word, obeying the voice of His word! Bless the Lord all His hosts, His ministers, who do His will! Bless the Lord, all His works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!” Psalm 103:20-22

So these verses prove that angels are actively involved in our lives. The verse from 1 Corinthians even says we will judge them. To judge means to decide how well someone has carried out a law or command. How can we judge angels if we never utilize them? Let me be clear.

We do not pray to angels. We release Father’s Word as He puts it in our hearts, and they do what He says through us.Click To Tweet It doesn’t necessarily mean we have to quote Scripture. It means what we say must line up or agree with God’s will. When our words match up with God’s will, the angels act on what we say.

Many times you will be aware that angels are present. You just kind of know they are with you. You may even see angels with your eyes. I have seen one angel with my open eyes. As you can expect from reports in Scripture, I was scared. I literally hid under my covers until it left. Dang! Wish I could redo that opportunity.

So learn from my mistake and don’t be surprised at the realm of the supernatural showing up when you begin to live more aware of spiritual reality. I’ve “seen” other angels more in my mind’s eye (that part of your mind where you imagine things). I have also had the impression (strong feeling) they were around me tons of times. So, just like in the Bible, ask God to open your eyes to see what’s really there.

You can pray something like this:

Father God, I believe that You created me with a great plan for my life. I want to better understand the authority you have given me. It may be a lot for me to consider, but I do believe your words over my limited understanding. I am open to encountering Your angels and whatever You have for me.
